The Kairos #6 Weekend at the O.B. Ellis Unit is scheduled for October 31st -November 3rd, 2024.
The Kairos Weekend is our opportunity to introduce incarcerated “Men in White” at the O.B. Ellis Unit to the Kairos ministry. Here, they will learn the fundamentals of the Christian faith, learn about themselves, and learn about our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. They also will see Kairos volunteers following the two greatest commandments — loving God and loving each other. And through that, the Men in White will experience agape love themselves, possibly for the first time in their lives.
A Kairos Weekend starts with introductions to Kairos Inside Team members and each other on Thursday afternoon. Then we continue with full days on Friday and Saturday that are filled with teaching, group discussions, music, singing, prayer, and chapel meditations. We have another early start on Sunday that lasts through the Closing Celebration Sunday afternoon.
Meanwhile, our Outside Team offers crucial support throughout the Weekend.
Based at a local church in Huntsville, they prepare home-cooked meals and snacks that are brought into the O.B. Ellis Unit hot and fresh. They are also mighty prayer warriors and intercessors who continually pray and sing to rain blessings upon the Men in White and the Inside Team.
A tremendous source of encouragement to the Men in White is knowing that men and women on the Outside Team are extending agape love to them by interceding on prayer requests relayed to them from inside Ellis.
